Q: What is Fairy Hair?

A: Fairy hair is a sparkling extension attached to a single strand of your hair. They are applied by a real fairy using a specially developed fusing technique without any glue, beads or tape to damage your existing hair.

Q: How long does it last?

A: Since it is magically woven onto a strand of hair it will fall out when you lose that strand of hair.  It can last a day, week, month or even a year.  It all depends since we can't say when you will naturally lose that hair.  It is normal to lose a couple right away so we always give you free bonus strands so your first few are on us.  On average you can expect to retain a high percentage for 6 weeks to 6 months. Children under 10 have less mature hair follicles, so they will lose strands much faster.

Q: How old do you have to be?

A: While we don't have a specific age for a child to receive fairy hair, there are two requirements that must be met:

- The child must give consent (verbal or otherwise)

- The child must be able to sit in the chair by themselves and sit still.

Children under 10 will lose their sparkles much faster. While it is super fun for littles, and lasts longer than face painting, don't expect them to be sparkling for weeks.  It doesn't last as long in our younger clients because their hair follicles are not as mature. We give this disclaimer so you don't have high expectations, but there is always an exception to the rule. Many of our clients under the age of 10 keep their strands for months!

Q: What kind of care is required?

A: You can wash, dry, cut, color and heat style as you usually do. If you want to maximize the amount of time your fairy hair lasts, you can take steps to reduce natural hair loss, such as avoiding over washing, rough brushing, and tight hairstyles. However, how fast you lose your sparkles is always purely based on luck (and maybe some magic).

Q: What if I live outside Southern Maryland?

A: Keep an eye on our social media for events in Southern Maryland that you may be able to attend. I'm willing to travel outside of Calvert and St. Mary's for an additional fee (Inquire to learn more). Otherwise, I'd be happy to connect you with your closest Fairy!
